The older mom's guide to staying active during pregnancy

Last week we ran - all four of us.  Together.  For the first time ever (yip, Will included!).  So if you were wondering about the icy conditions we've experienced this past weekend, there's your answer.  I was actually expecting a snowstorm.

Post-run pic to show off the bump.  On the left you have the cutest little photo bomber ever :).

All our test results came back negative, so I've decided to slowly start moving again.  But I'm not going to lie - my body is protesting.  Loudly.  Perhaps because I'm an (ahem) older expecting mama?

I don't, however, want to completely write off running during pregnancy just yet.  The plan is to listen to my body and take each day as it comes: On days that I don't feel like running, I'll walk.  And on days that I don't feel like walking, I'll rest.  And maybe, just maybe, I'll join the swimming and water aerobics brigade again come summertime.  We'll see.  But whatever I do, listening to my body (and my doctor!) will be Priority Number One.

Any other fellow older moms out there?  How did you keep fit and active during your pregnancies?  Any advice?

  1. I had my fifth and last child when I was in my thirties, and I remember even walking was an effort. I had to stop running for a while unfortunately.

I hope you can keep it up!

    1. Thanks so much for the encouragement! Good to hear that I'm not the only one struggling to stay active during an older pregnancy!

  2. I was 32 when I was pregnant with A. I ran through the first part of pregnancy, but wished I'd done more to be active when I couldn't do that anymore. It sure is tough to stay active while pregnant! Good for you for trying to find a way!

I love hearing from you!
