Pregnancy Update: Week 5

[Note: I planned to post this on Sunday, but spent most of the day snuggling on the couch with a sick Baby Girl.  I decided to share it anyway, even if it is a few days late, because I want to keep record of this new journey right from the start.  Enjoy!]

Yip, it's still early days, but I feel fantastic!  I plan to do a quick post each Saturday to give you an update on how things are going with the pregnancy (including the obligatory bump pic!), so here goes!

Symptoms: When I was pregnant with Baby Girl, the first thing I noticed that was different about my body, was the fact that my feet got bigger...  And exactly the same thing is happening this time around: My running shoes already feel snug - eish!  Good thing I have a birthday coming up - bigger running shoes, anyone...?

Baby: We went for our first doctor's appointment on Thursday.  It was obviously way too soon to get a glimpse of little Baby Junior, but the doctor confirmed our pregnancy with a blood test and gave me the green light to continue running for now.  Yay!

Running:  I'm thankful for each and every run I get to do!  Stroller runs are still my favourite - I can't even begin to tell you how much I love running with Baby Girl and now with little Baby Junior too.  I'm really hoping and trusting that I'll be able to keep running with both Little Ones for as long as possible.  We're taking things super slow and easy and never run on back-to-back days.  Here are our runs for the past week:

  • Monday: 4.2 km (solo run with Baby Junior);
  • Wednesday: 4.2 km (stroller run with Baby Girl and Baby Junior); and
  • Saturday: 10 km "race" (solo run with Baby Junior)!  (Race recap coming soon.)

After the race on Saturday.  Neither of us had a stellar hair day. :)

Weight Gain: I gained a whopping 19 kg (41 pounds) during my pregnancy with Baby Girl - yikes!  Fortunately, I've since learned that pregnancy weight gain needn't be permanent and that those pounds do eventually disappear through hard work, eating healthfully and exercising.  Phew!  Here's my weight gain so far for this pregnancy:
  •   Weekly: 200 g;
  •   Total: 200 g.

February 2012, when I was 40 weeks pregnant with Baby Girl...  Will's expression says it all :) !

Food aversions/cravings:  None!  I'm still eating pretty much the same things as I did before.  The smell of meat cooking in the kitchen is, however, sometimes a bit much to bear...

Bump pic:  I'll spare you this one for now - I think we'll have to wait a few more weeks to notice a difference in this department...

Have a blessed weekend, everyone!

    Late congrats for your 10 km with a "baby aboard".
