The Green Light

Wow, what a journey!  For the past nine months, six weeks and one day my physical activity levels seesawed between 'optimistically trying', 'desperately little' and 'absolutely zero'.  We traversed morning sickness; painful hips; clumsiness; swollen feet; and a bulging bump.  There were tears; extra kilograms; old lady maternity pants; hormones; lots of dark chocolates; and even more beetroot.  And now, exactly 323 days later, I hold the most precious little blessing in my arms.  Plus, after Thursday's doctor's visit, I've been given the go-ahead to start exercising again!  Happiness!

But as much as I'm itching to dive back into running with complete abandon, I'm determined to take things easy and ease back into it; heeding everybody's good advice.  For this reason my very first workout after a ten month hiatus will be a cross-training one - a body conditioning class, to be exact.  Because a) it will hopefully benefit my running and b) I'm afraid that my shrinking calves might completely disappear if I don't do something about them soon.

So, without any further ado, I'm off to make my comeback.  Wish me luck! 


  1. Good luck! The body conditioning is a great way to ease yourself back into physical activity. Take it easy and slow and by summer time you'll be running well with Will.
