Changing gears, the South African way

I love this time of year.  The atmosphere is just different.  While the Northern Hemisphere celebrates the arrival of Fall with all things pumpkin (which looks totally delicious, by the way - I think we're missing out!), we start enjoying all the truly South African things associated with Summer and the winding down of a long work year:

1.  Fun, leisurely visits with friends and family under clear summer skies.

My dad's 60th birthday band.

2.  Memory making moments around the campfire.

Dad and me.  Yes, we're odd that way.

3.  Afternoons and evenings next to the sports fields cheering on our favourite teams.

Go, Cheetaaaaaahs!!  (Yes, we did watch the game too.)

4.  Braaivleis (meat grilled on the barbecue), watermelon, mangoes and smoothies!

Say aaaahhhhh!

5.  All things sporty and outdoorsy.

Pick n Pay Cape Argus Cycle Tour 2010.

6.  And, last, but not least, looking forward to that long awaited Christmas holiday at the beach!

Fun on the beach.

Come on, Summer!
