One of the perks of living and working in the sticks is that, once a month, you get a (whole) Friday and a (whole) Monday off to take a (fully paid for) trip to your loved ones - love it! That might sound like a mighty long weekend, but, believe me, once you start cramming it full of get-togethers and treats and other fun stuff, it simply flashes by.
Here are some highlights:
1. An awesome evening of catching up and talking and laughing with an amazing bunch of friends! Tanya treated us to her fine baking skills (green-and-brown "eco-friendly" cupcakes - delicious!!) and a little someone entertained us with all the new words that he's learnt. Friends truly are a blessing from Above.

2. Being the No. 1 fan of this champ at a local cycling race. He kicked some serious butt!
Before the start of the race. It was freeeeezing! |
3. Two (yes TWO) visits to Kauai for the best take-out meals E-VER! (In my books, at least. Willie often feels the strong urge to add to the awesomeness that is Kauai with a side of McD fries. Sigh.)
Moroccan Beef Wrap plus a Supergreen Smoothie. Perfect. (Willie's french fries are hidden from sight :) .) |
4. A trip with Willie and the pups to what must be doggy heaven! We hiked for one-and-a-half wonderful hours.
Max and Zip leading the way. |
Also mixed in there were a few hours of healthy-stuff shopping to take back to Kathu (accompanied by quite a bit of eye-rolling from Willie...) and some super fun runs. Refreshed and ready to take on the world? You bet!
