I don't really believe in New Year's resolutions. Not that I don't believe in the process of continually bettering oneself - on the contrary: I'm a great fan. Maybe I just feel that if one felt really strong about changing something for one's own good, one would do it right then and there; regardless of the time of year. Why wait?
Therefore, in line with my resolutions schmesolutions policy, I made no New Year's resolutions for 2011. Nada. Zip. Instead, I selected a word for 2011. A sort of motto for the year that I will keep in the back of my head to nudge me in all the right directions. One that will hopefully help me grow on different levels. My word is this: CHALLENGE.
On a physical level, my age is starting to necessitate this. The same old workouts at the same old levels of intensity no longer produce results. Every new workout has to be a new challenge. Be it a new activity or a new level of intensity. Which is what I've started implementing: Running stairs; running on soft sand; doing Zumba; doing burpees; doing jumping lunges... The guiding workout question for 2011 will therefore be this: Is what I'm about to do going to be a CHALLENGE? Kind of a "go big or go home" policy.
The same will go for the emotional and spiritual aspects as well: Take that step. Get out of that comfort zone. Go that extra mile. Take initiative. Reach out. And, above all else, JUST KEEP ON BELIEVING.
Wishing you all a joyful and blessed 2011!
