We're a week into November (uhm, what?!) and I'm happy to report that I did pretty well with my Pile on the Miles goals last week! Here's a reminder of the goals I set for November:
1. Log three runs every week; and
2. Log two strength training classes each week.
Simple enough - right? - but quite a feat for this full-time working, permanently exhausted (anyone else?) mama. Here's how I did:
Monday ---> Rest
Tuesday ---> Club Time Trail: 4 km in 20:03 - missed a sub-20 by four seconds, boo!
Wednesday ---> Power Pump class. Holy moly, I lay in a heap, whimpering and shaking (well, almost), afterwards. And this was followed by three days of getting into and out of chairs like a heavily pregnant woman, with my quads literally on fire. I assume this means it's working?
Thursday ---> Rest
Friday ---> Unplanned rest day as a result of some work deadlines. Sigh.
Saturday ---> parkrun! Will was on the bike, so Miss K, J Bear and I clocked a respectable 33:12 (over 5 km) with the double stroller. My favourite kind of run!
Our run was followed by a Pilates class at the gym - and plenty more whimpering and shaking, ha! There was also shameless face-pulling and grunting while eeking out some lunges...

Sunday ---> A family stroll around the block had to do instead of my planned third run - I have a silly head cold after last week's crazy weather. Pfffft.
So that's 1.5 out of two for Week I - not too bad, right? But there's lots of room for improvement: No more missing workouts earlier in the week and then cramming in workouts later on. Here we go!
Happy Monday, everyone!
Sounds like you are getting some great workouts in! Take care of the cold, Karien.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Raina! Fortunately it appears to be nothing more than a head cold, so hopefully I'll be back to running soon!
DeleteI've had the same problem lately of missing a few workouts/self-imposed deadlines early in the week and then cramming them in later. I hope your cold gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lisa - already feeling much better! :)
DeleteWe have our work cut out for us, right? ;)
You've been doing well the whole year. Keep it up! Now the heat is killing us again...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Johann!
DeleteAijaijai - this weather...!
