The Perfect Birthday

My birthday (today!) falls on World Move for Health Day - isn't that perfect?!  I was actually due to be born on 6 May - International No Diet Day - which, let's face it, would also have been a perfect fit, ha!  But since the 10th involves movement, and by implication also running, I'm convinced that it was meant to be.

And since, in my books, no birthday (or World Move for Health Day, for that matter) would be complete without a run, we kicked the day off with a parkrun - almost the entire family, whoop!  

It was Will's first parkrun, and after some initial sweet talking to get him to finally register [he has a thing about giving out his e-mail address and contact number, just to end up receiving tons of congratulatory e-mails and SMSes ridden with spelling mistakes about the millions of Rands that he's won in every non-existing lottery under the sun], I think it's safe to say that he'll be back.  (And don't worry, parkrun doesn't give out your details.)

Side note: Our birthday run actually deserves a post of its own, because man, it was hard!  (I was this close to, ahem, taking a walk in the bushes afterwards, if you know what I'm sayin'...)  Either pushing a stroller along 5 km of gravel roads is much harder than covering the same distance on tar, or I'm getting really, really old, ha!  But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?  At this rate I'll be Iron Mom by December, so bring it.

Anyway, back to the perfect birthday...  My very subtle (hey, Will?) hints were treated with the seriousness that it deserved, for the rest of my day included some of this...

Yip, a perfect day in every way.  And guess what?  The fun doesn't stop here - tomorrow is Mother's Day...!  (Don't worry, Will has taken a Berocca and assured me that he's ready for Round II...)

Someone who does have their birthday on International No Diet Day, blogging friend and running inspiration Gordon Booth from Run For Your Life, celebrated his 82nd birthday earlier this week - happy birthday, Gordon!  In true Old Running Fox style, he celebrated this wonderful milestone with a 4 mile run through the countryside with his partner - the best way I can think of to enter one's 83rd (or any!) year.  Wishing him many, many happy miles in the year ahead!

  2. You are so healthy! By the way Nicky also drinks that exact same drink you had in the picture from Woolworths. We go through all the colours and he chooses purple (my fave colour, maybe he picked it up)!

    1. Heehee - K absolutely loves those drinks too! She usually chooses the red one (Elsa Elephant), because both her grandmas are called Elsa ;) . x

  4. Aw, too bad I didn't see this one yesterday, but happy belated birthday! What a way to celebrate- family, a run, and chocolate! :) You were born on the perfect day! I semi-moved yesterday, I rode the elliptical so I didn't get far, but my legs were moving haha ;) I will be running on my birthday though!
