It's here!

Thank you so much for all your advice on choosing a new GPS running watch - I really had no idea whether to stick with Garmin (which I've used for the past three years and loved it - until mine irreparably broke for no apparent reason), or move on to another make.  Two things really stood out from your advice, though: Number 1.  Garmin rocks.  And Number 2.  Don't waste money on old technology.  Duly noted.

After carefully considering everyone's advice, I said no, thank you to the Forerunner 310XT so kindly offered to me by Garmin at a very good price.  It's huge and it's old and I didn't really want it.  Then I cheekily asked if they would be willing to offer me the Forerunner 220 and/or Forerunner 10 at a good price instead, and wow, did they come to the party!  I was seriously blown away by their fantastic customer service.  You were right - Garmin does indeed rock.

Will is very sceptical about the girly purple.  I, on the other hand (being a girl and all), love it!

They offered me both watches at great prices, but in the end I went with the Forerunner 220.  In my heart of hearts it's the one I really wanted (thanks, Padre): I love the look of it (queue a bunch of male eye rolls, ha!), but its specs at the price they offered me was simply too good to refuse.  So, done and done.

It did, of course, arrive from the manufacturer right after I returned from my runch (=running lunch) yesterday.  How rude.  I guess that means I'll just have to go to parkrun tomorrow then...

Have a fabulous weekend, everyone, and good luck to everyone racing!

  1. It seems these are pretty popular watches! My 305 is acting up and I might need to replace it. Does this one allow you to program workouts, and / or self lapping at irregular intervals, (400m/1600m/800M etc)..

    1. Hi Raina! I haven't tried it myself yet, but according to the booklet it does have an auto-lap function (which you can set at a distance you like), and it also allows you to program workouts. I'll let you know how it goes once I've had a chance to play around with it a bit :) .
