2013 South African Running Sock Swap

You know how running socks tend to go into the washing machine as a pair and come out single?  And that you can therefore never have too many?

And you know that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when a) you receive a good old snail mail parcel and b) discover that there's running stuff inside?

Well, if you do, this post is for you: You're invited to participate in the official 2013 South African Running Sock Swap*!

This is how it will work:  Send me a mail to runningtherace[at]live[dot]co[dot]za before 21 November 2013 containing your name, postal address, social media details, shoe size and sock preferences (you know, long vs. hidden, padded vs. super thin, neon vs. good old white, etc.) and you'll be added to the list.  I will match every participant with a fellow runner and send out those details by 1 December 2013.  You will then have until 10 December 2013 to buy your partner an awesome new pair of running socks, stuff it to the brim with all kinds of fabulous running goodies (think gels, energy bars, anti-chafing cream, headbands, more socks, running magazines, KT tape - you get the idea), send it to them, and let me know in an e-mail that you have.  And before you know it, you'll have the most amazing, creative package of happiness waiting for you in the mail too!

This swap is open to any and every single runner in South Africa: Young, old, slow, fast, male, female - join in the fun and let's spread a little end-of-the-year cheer!  To make the swap both fair and affordable, please make sure that your socks plus stuffing is valued between R100 and R150.  Now get registering!

*The sole idea behind this swap is to spread some smiles!  Running the Race will act as host of the swap, but will take no responsibility for lost packages, unfortunate sock choices, party poopers or postal service strikes.

                                                   *           *           *

P.S. I participated in an international sock swap hosted by Courtney from Third Time's a Charm Runner in 2011 and credit this fun idea to her!  I'm hosting this South African version of the sock swap with Courtney's blessing, based on the fact that international postage can be quite prohibitive when wanting to participate in the fun.  Thanks, Courtney!
