running blues, (n) A state of intense longing experienced by a runner who is unable to run for an extended period of time.
This week I've been struggling with a severe case of the running blues. Yes, I know I'll D.V. run again. And yes, I'm acutely aware of all the blessings that I'm currently surrounded by. But I really ache for a run. It's in my blood. It's part of who I am - I have to move.
So I did what I always do when I get the running blues: I went running shopping. Nothing fancy or expensive - just a new pair of running socks. And I put it right where I can see it in my clothes drawer: All fresh and new - a reminder of many miles still to come.
Somehow that always makes me feel so much better?!
Do you ever get the running blues? How do you cure it?
I certainly get running blues. Luckily I haven't had that problem for some time now. I usually try to do some cross or upper body training to feel better. I bought a black and a blue pair of the same socks this weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI have some black and blue ones too - love them :) !
DeleteI'm like a bear with a sore head if I can't run. I delve into my shelf full of running books and get all sorts of fanciful ideas for improving my training and making me run faster - once I can start running again. It never works!
ReplyDeleteHa! :)
DeleteI, sadly, don't get the running blues. I have to make myself run for the most part. :/
