Wow, it feels like only yesterday that I posted our 5 week pregnancy update - has three months really flown by that fast?! Here's where we're currently at in Week 17:
Symptoms: The morning sickness is finally something of the past - hallelujah! I feel so much better - and Will is extremely thankful about this too ;) .
Baby: For those of you who missed the announcement - we're having a boy! He's healthy and gorgeous and the doctor is satisfied with everything. Baby Girl keeps rubbing my belly and saying "Hello, Brother! Hello, Brother!" - so cute :) .
Running: I've stopped running completely and am only walking now. After trying to run for one last time about a week or two ago, I got a firm "no" from my body. So I'm listening. Am I disappointed? Yes. I really miss running. But this too shall pass. And when the time is right, I'll return to running with more vigour and enthusiasm than ever. I can't wait. But for now I'm just enjoying the privilege of a new life growing inside of me.
Weight gain: This is becoming really hard to share, ha! But I want to, because way too many naysayers told me during my first pregnancy that having a baby means saying goodbye to being fit and in shape and saying hello to a lifetime of being overweight and chubby. Not. True. Pregnancy weight gain is both normal and necessary. And losing pregnancy weight after giving birth through eating healthfully and exercising (with your doctor's approval) is just as normal and, more importantly, entirely possible. Without becoming obsessive about it or turning to some crazy fad diet. Which is why I'm sharing my pregnancy weight gain and getting-back-into-shape-after-giving-birth-journeys with you. So here's my weight gain for the first four months of this pregnancy:
- 3.5 kg (7.7 pounds).
Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie. Words can't even describe it... |
