I am knee-deep in a slump. Officially and undeniably. And it stinks. I haven't run once since my 10 k race a week and two days ago. Boo. And although Baby Girl and I go for long walks almost every morning before work, I have absolutely zero motivation to run.
I can sit here and type a whole list of excuses to make my sorry self feel better, but sadly there's no denying that it all boils down to plain old laziness. Ouch. I need to find a new challenge - and bit of variation. Fast.
Which made me think... I've been wanting to try a tri(athlon) for as long as I can remember. I've even included it on my bucket list. So why not now? I have an amazing bike (which has been stripped of some parts - ahem, Will - and gathering dust in the garage); I have a membership to a gym with an amazing, heated pool; plus I have a pair of running shoes. All sorted.
I'm not thinking anything crazy, like 70.3 or Ironman - I'm thinking more in the line of the BSG (Sprint) Triseries. You know, a 600 m swim, 20 km bike and 5 k run. Sounds doable, right? I think so.
Now if I can just get someone to fix my bike...

That sounds like a great way to get some motivation and get you out of that slump. Luckily I plan way ahead and always have some race coming up. That keeps me on my toes.
ReplyDeleteThat totally sounds doable! I always need a race or a goal to motivate me, so I know the feeling.
ReplyDeleteYour bike pictures made me smile. :)
I just plan exciting runs and i can't wait for the next one...
