Rainy summer's runs

We are just loving summer right now: The days are long and the temperatures are gorgeous.  And the best part: There's a watermelon on standby in the fridge 24/7!

This morning Will and his buddies cycled to a neighbouring town and back (+/-120 km in total), so Baby Girl and I also got up and went for our "newspaper run".  The weather was overcast and cool, so initially I thought of turning back home after getting the papers.  But fortunately we have this awesome rain cover for the jogging stroller (Best. Gift. Ever!!  Thanks, Saar!), so we just kept going.

Taken through the stroller's sunroof: Baby Girl snug as a bug in the rain.

We ran a total of 6 km, most of it in the rain, and saw at least eight or ten other runners along the way.  All of them had the biggest smiles on their faces - there's just something magnificent about a rainy summer's run.

Dear, sweet Will also fixed my bike this week - I'm happy to report that it's all shiny and dust free and ready to roll!  So, weather permitting, I might go for my first ride in two years tomorrow morning.  Early.  Before the neighbours wake up to witness the lycra explosion.

My personal bike mechanic.

Good as new!

I'll let you know how it went!

  1. What I wouldn't give for it to be summer over here!! It's about 27 degrees Fahrenheit (-2 Celsius) right now. Heading out for my run in about 10 mins.... BRRR
