Will's first Father's Day

Growing up, Father's Day (and Mother's Day) in our home would always start with me and my big brother tip-toeing to Dad's (or Mom's) room in our pajamas before dawn and waking them with a loud and jolly (and no doubt startling) "Happy Father's (or Mother's) Day!".  There'd be gifts (always, always dark chocolates and liquorice for Dad), breakfast in bed (always eggs for Dad - he loves eggs), laughing and talking until it was time to get ready for church.  Good times.

And today, for the very first time, it was Will's turn.  Sticking with the family tradition, Baby Girl and I sneaked to the guest room (Will slept in the guest room and I pajama-drilled alone as part of his Father's Day treats) before the sun came up and woke him with the customary "Happy Father's Day!".  We presented him with a well-deserved (chocolate) medal for being our #1 Dad and then there was the traditional chatting and lounging about until it was time to get up.  Precious times!

Happy Father's Day also to my own Dad, who is 600 km away and couldn't be spoiled with a fun family wake-up call and his beloved dark chocolates and liquorice today.  I love you with all my heart and am deeply thankful for the Dad you are!

My Dad and Baby Girl, the day after her birth.

Hope you all had a happy Father's Day spent with loved ones, building memories for the years to come!
