Brrrrr - winter has officially arrived in Bloem.  Baby Girl and my regular Saturday stroller run even got cancelled on account of, wait for it... SNOW!  (The post title kind of spoiled that, huh?)  Now to those of you living in countries where snowfall is measured in inches (meters?) and shoveling the driveway is an everyday winter activity, that may not sound like a big deal.  But to us South-Africans living in the land of sunshine and braaivleis, who only see snow perhaps once every ten years, this is huge!  We totally ran to the front lawn to take pictures.

We did get our run in once things warmed up a little, though - I'm starting to really love this weekend-run-and-Woolies-picnic-afterwards tradition of ours!  Baby Girl loves running in the stroller and sleeps almost the entire time - the bumpier the roads, the better.  After our run, on our way to the car, my heart literally skipped a beat when I discovered that I had left the car door open while we were away...  Not unlocked - wide open.  Don't ask me how on earth that happened - maybe I didn't notice it in my sleep deprived state; or perhaps the twenty-five step process required to get ourselves and the stroller ready to roll distracted me.  Whatever the reason, there is was: The driver's door was wide, wide open.  And had been for two hours plus.  Thankfully the car was still there, plus everything in it (shopping parcels, tog bags, the works...).  Phew!

The rest of the weekend was spent snuggling in front of the TV; feasting on steaming soup and grilled cheese sandwiches; and loving the fact that we didn't have to get up early to go to work. Hope you had a blast as well!

  1. Sounds like a great weekend! Wow about the car door! I'm glad everything was still there!

  2. It's so crazy to see you having winter and it's sweltering here! Stay warm! At least you got a perfect snuggle buddy! :D

  3. Here summer and there winter, this world is amazing.
It sounds like a wonderful week end.
    Beautiful photos.

I love hearing from you!
