Heuwelkruin Autumn Fun Walk 2012

This weekend we did our second ever fun walk as a family of three.

Babies, grandpas, K9s and aunties - all ready to go.

Except we only walked halfway, stopped for a lengthy emergency feeding and then lost the rest of the participants and had to turn around and retrace our steps back to the start.  Baby Girl also insisted on being in the arms for this one and not in the stroller, much to Daddy's back's dismay.  Oh, well, I guess there'll be some good ones and some bad ones, right?

Emergency roadside feeding.
Why sit in the stroller when Dad's arms have a much better view?

Thankfully, all was not lost: Once back at the start, we were treated to a mouthwatering post-walk breakfast of muesli and yogurt; bacon and mushroom omelettes; and coffee and chocolate muffins.  No degree of grumpiness (ahem, Will) could stand its ground against a spread this delicious, so we all went home happy and with full tummies.

Feasting on some post-walk eats.

Our own little misfortune aside, this was a really well organised, value for money family event.  For a R40 entry fee each participant received a medal, a prize [which you could pick from a whole table full of prizes - fist come, first served, of course :) ] and the best post-walk eats ever.  We'll definitely be back next year - hopefully with better success!

  2. Ah well, you can't win them all! But that post walk breakfast sounded really mouth-weatering- moreso than the porridge and toast I had this morning.

  3. Baby girl is already very very smart.
Another good day spent outdoor with the family.
I like the first come first served system at the end of the race. It was very usual in 80s here.
