On this chilly autumn morning I took my legs that can barely walk for a run.
You know how, when you go for a drive on any given New Year's morning, you're bound to pass a newbie runner or two doing their thing: Red faced, out of breath and clearly struggling, but soldiering on nonetheless? How you feel a mixture of pity and respect as you drive past them, silently cheering them on and doing an imaginary Mexican wave, because a runner always respects the efforts of a fellow runner? Well, today that newbie runner was me.
I was the whole package: Red face - check. Half-crawl, half-shuffle - check. Steely, determined look in the eyes - check. It wasn't pretty. Did I have fun? Nope. Will I go again? You bet. Why? Because I know from experience just how much fun it will become.
You're right! It won't always suck!! Way to get out there!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job getting back out there! You've ran before and you will definitely be running again! :D
ReplyDeleteHang in there ... It won't be long.
ReplyDeleteI remember those post-birth runs all too well! They do get better!
