The Green Light

Wow, what a journey!  For the past nine months, six weeks and one day my physical activity levels seesawed between 'optimistically trying', 'desperately little' and 'absolutely zero'.  We traversed morning sickness; painful hips; clumsiness; swollen feet; and a bulging bump.  There were tears; extra kilograms; old lady maternity pants; hormones; lots of dark chocolates; and even more beetroot.  And now, exactly 323 days later, I hold the most precious little blessing in my arms.  Plus, after Thursday's doctor's visit, I've been given the go-ahead to start exercising again!  Happiness!

As much as I'm itching to dive back into running with complete abandon, I'm determined to take things easy and ease back into it; heeding everybody's good advice.  For this reason my very first workout after a ten month hiatus will be a cross-training one - a body conditioning class, to be exact.  Because a) it will hopefully benefit my running and b) I'm afraid that my shrinking calves might completely disappear if I don't do something about them soon.

So, without any further ado, I'm off to make my comeback.  Wish me luck!

  1. Good luck! The body conditioning is a great way to ease yourself back into physical activity. Take it easy and slow and by summer time you'll be running well with Will.
