Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour 2012

The 35th anniversary of the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour was held this past Sunday, 11 March 2012.  Being the largest timed cycling race in the world, this race is the highlight of many a South African cyclist's racing year, including Will's.  (See last year's race recap here.)

Will had to brave the beautiful Cape Town alone this year [tough job, hey? ;) ], as we decided that Miss K was still too young to tackle the 1 000 km journey down to the Cape.  He did splendidly, clocking a 03:09 for the 110 km race.  Well done, Will!

Our "the one who travels alone brings back lots of presents"-rule was, of course, strictly enforced once more (complete with associated hints) and boy, were we treated like queens!  Miss K got the cutest little onesie you have ever laid your eyes on - complete with the logo "Born to Ride".  Wonder if I can find one somewhere that says "Born to Run"??

If you've been a reader of this blog for a while, you'll know that I'm passionate about the work of the Sabrina Love Foundation in South Africa (read all about it here).  Since people could ride the Argus to benefit this charity, the foundation had a stall at the race expo and guess what Will got me?!  A bright pink Sabrina Love tech top.  Love, love, love!!!  It has a big embroidered Sabrina Love star on the back - guess what I'll be wearing all winter long??

I absolutely cannot wait for next year's Argus - Miss K and I will be the loudest little cheering squad out there and support our champion all the way!  I will, of course, be the one wearing the bright pink top ;) .

  2. Congrats to Will but the next year he will be faster thanks to his cheering squad.
SA or italy the rules are the same: "the one who travels alone brings back lots of presents".
