I love this time of year. The atmosphere is just different. While the Northern Hemisphere celebrates the arrival of Fall with all things pumpkin (which looks totally delicious, by the way - I think we're missing out!), we start enjoying all the truly South African things associated with Summer and the winding down of a long work year:
1. Fun, leisurely visits with friends and family under clear summer skies.

My dad's 60th birthday band. |
2. Memory making moments around the campfire.

Dad and me. Yes, we're odd that way. |
3. Afternoons and evenings next to the sports fields cheering on our favourite teams.

Go, Cheetaaaaaahs!! (Yes, we did watch the game too.) |
4. Braaivleis (meat grilled on the barbecue), watermelon, mangoes and smoothies!
Say aaaahhhhh! |
5. All things sporty and outdoorsy.
Pick n Pay Cape Argus Cycle Tour 2010. |
6. And, last, but not least, looking forward to that long awaited Christmas holiday at the beach!
Fun on the beach. |
Come on, Summer!
